Muskie on fly rod
« on: February 25, 2013, 08:48:22 PM »
Just a picture to get all you muskie fanatics excited about the up coming season. This muskie was caught on an eight weight fly rod with a ten pound tippet and a homemade fly. Good luck to all this season, fish on!

It's so fun!  I can't wait. I've caught them on a 6 wt too. Now I'm stoked!

Same here! I'd love to get a muskie! Maybe not on a fly rod... since I have no clue how to fly fish... but I'd love the chance to catch one!

Didn't know we had muskies here in WA. Awesome fish, even better on the fly.

It is actually a Tiger Muskie(muskie/northern pike cross breeding); but once you hooked one and it clears the water's surface on it's first aerial display, Muskie or Tiger Muskie you've got a fight on your hands.

Lake Tapps and a few down in the south west has them.  [urlhttp://www.washingtonlakes.com/ReportComment.aspx?id=64682&lid=67&t=1][/url].  I have caught northern before which are in the same type fish.  Never on a fly rod.  I fished Tapps last year with my father-in-law for bass and had some muskies following my lure.  I am going to hit Tapps up more this year.

Fish of a thousand casts except for fly guys. I would think more casts but a fly fisher won a tourney on Mayfield last year.

We have 7 bodies of water in Washington that hold tiger musky in them. They are a kick in the pants to catch and a great fish to help the ecosystems on those bodies of water. If you guys have any questions about them, shoot me a pm. I fish for them quiet a bit and have alot of info I can share.

I've made three trips to WI/MN and have not caught one yet, trying to plan another trip this summer. I think I have 7000 more casts to do before I am allowed one.  :chuckle:
