Another question about GMU 124
« on: September 06, 2013, 03:26:25 PM »
Well, I finally talked my dad into deer hunting after he has taken about 35 years off! Anyway, I have family that own property outside of Spokane and south of Newport. They don't own a ton of land but anyway, we have decided to head over there because he can shoot a doe during rifle season and we are perfectly fine with that!! My questions are, do you need an IEP permit if you walk on to their property?? Someone told me you only needed a permit if you drive onto their land. Also, is it still owned by IEP? The county assessor's website has the owners listed as Stimson Lumber. Just trying to get the old man a doe, can't wait to get out with him again. Thanks for any info.

You must be talking about the 65 and older season?  As far as the IEP land their website has a bunch of info on it.  It's been a few years since I read most of it since I don't typically use their land.  They also have maps.  But normally the county assessors site is current as well.  Good luck!

But be warned.  You cannot camp overnight on their land.

Yes, you are supposed to have a permit for any recreational activity on their land.
Be more concerned with your character than your reputation. Your character is who you actually are while your reputation is merely who others think you are.

Thanks for all the input! Another thing I was wondering is can i pick up a permit for Washington land in Idaho, or does it matter where I it? Going to be closer to Idaho than Spokane.

Yes, the IEP permits are available in several Idaho locations and I think only 1 Washington location.  The permits are all the same.  Most of the access, even to the Washington land, is through gates located in Idaho.  I think the closest purchase location is in Spirit Lk. Idaho, or near there.

You can also get a permit in rathdrum. That where we get ours.
You can get into iep land from the top of mt.spokane and drive the roads fo 37 miles and come iut in twin lakes id. Its a really good way to see where you wanna go.

www.iepco.com           Look for " Resource Management " link and get ahold of them. They'll tell you where to buy permits etc. I don't think the places where you buy the permits will have maps. They didn't when I got my disabled permit 2 years ago for Northport.
I couldn't care less about what anybody says..............
