300 rum in model 700 vls
« on: September 11, 2013, 10:19:23 PM »
Has anyone ever heard of a remington model 700 vls in 300 rum?
The vls is the closest I can find that matches my rifle but I can't find any listing of remington ever even making them in the 300 rum caliber. All the markings on the barrel are matching Remington's proof marks and stuff

Nope. Never heard nor seen one. I've got the same set up in a 22-250. The "VLS" means varmint laminate stock. Not sure why Remington would build a RUM in a VLS? Anyhow, nice looking gun you have.

Remington made a limited run of unfluted RUM's with the laminated stocks.  Seems like it was early 2000's time frame if I remember correctly.  They were still calling them Sendero's but they had a special designation.  I haven't seen very many but built on a couple as donor rifles for customers.

The gun pictures is definately a VLS in my opinion.  They had two barrels for the VLS.  Both black, with one being  spiral semi matte finished blueing (which I have) and a more smooth matte finish on the other.  I believe the smooth matte finished was an improvement to the previous barrel like on my VLS.  Mine pits and rusts easy.  What is stamped on the side of the barrel of your gun?  Obviously is says Rem 700 300 RUM, but is there anything else?
