WHITE RIVER ELK REPORT
« on: November 15, 2013, 09:25:43 AM »
I had a great hunt without killing a bull! I live close to the unit and I set my goal pretty high for a 6 pt or a big 5. Basically a mature bull.
I hunted hard with my hunting partner Jack and some new guys that were part of the adventure. We hunted the unit hard, and I passed up 11 bulls, which 5 were in my cross hairs. I had 1 decent opportunity at a big bull way up high, but somehow managed to screw that up.  :bash: I want to thanks these gentlemen for their support.

Ross: aka Ross crazy elk. I told him face to face he was a elk hunting freak of nature. I loved being with him opening day, and he was a constant source of encouragement.
Ken: aka 7 mm. Another hard core hunter. I enjoyed our 2 days chasing bulls!
Gerry:  aka Trophy Hunt: Thanks for all the advice. You kept me hunting hard!!!
Plugger: Thanks for all the email advice. You been there done that.
Brian aka Ridgerunner. Thanks for lending me your spotting scope and all the encouragement.
Willy :aka Billy the Kid Rock. Thanks for the report on your hunt.
My brothers Eric and Craig. Ready and willing to pack it out wherever it lay.
Scott aka Fill the Freezer: Thanks for the encouragement.

God I hope I didnt leave anybody out! :chuckle:

My wife asked me last night how I felt about the hunt. I said great because I set my goals high and had a great time hunting with my friends and made some new ones along the way.

No regrets, only good memories!!

Good Hunting!
Bryan

Thanks for the kind words Bryan, I love being able to do what I can.  I just wish I could have helped you pack something out! You did the tag justice, those bulls you past up will hopefully live to get bigger for next time! Great job, next time I'm going with ya!        Jerry

Sounds like you also had a great hunt up there as well, I also had the white river tag . I saw some nice Bulls before the season started but not many after that. I'm having tag soup today,  there is a lot of great people on here that has gone out of there way and tried to help me  fill my tag, been a great hunting season.

I was anxiously waiting by the phone yesterday for the come help call.  Sorry it did not work out.  It was fun getting to know you and that opening day will be etched in my mind forever. And to add you have bigger balls then me.  I would of cracked from the pressure and ended up with a meat bull.  Just because I need to eat.  Lol
Way to stick to your guns and it was a pleasure . Look forward to other times in the woods.

Way to stick it out, You said all along what you wanted to get, Not a thing wrong with that decision. I think its easier to live with that than shooting a small bull and regretting it, knowing damm well you would have got a bid boy if you didn't shot the small one. glad I could help or try anyway.

Thanks all.   One guy I left out is cedar aka double lung.  Thanks a million for everything.   I wish we
Could have spent a day hunting together.  The problem with these permit hunts is they are way too short.
