My dad got it over a decade ago from a relative. It was so used and worn that it was almost all bare steel. He had it reblued which he was told later could have ruined the collector value, but he got lucky all the edges stayed pretty sharp and crisp. The guy that did the bluing told him he would never put another round through it, too valuable. He had thought that if he could find the right price or trade for another rilfe and a shotgun or something he may do so. I never have been able to find out what it would be worth. It is a gorgeous gun. The only other thing the gunsmith did when he reblued it was the metal ring at the end of the wood fore end was thrown out because of how beat up it was and instead of a blued one he put a brass one instead if I remember right. Anyone know anything about these guns? How much they could really be worth. That octagon barrel is a beast.
