We will be there as well. Hopefully they left some elk for us.

I was up in the winston today and bagged a spike. Was hoping for something bigger but its late in the season and the freezer was hollow! Anyway, we were scouting for the late bow season and did see a small herd of cows. This late in the year antlers arent mandatory.

I spent the last 2 days up in the Winston unit and there are plenty of elk to go around.  Should not be a problem to pull an elk out of there.

Am I missing something?  I thought the Winston was 3 pt. or better for bulls???

I should've been more specific. I mod. fire. for deer and bow for elk. I thought there would have been more hunters in there today. Must be more popular for elk.

I heard the yacolt burn was an absolute zoo today. My friend got a spike there. He seems to think the rut there is over.

Ok... Your right, but I cant stand people who try to push other people around... We are all out there hunting... We are supposed to be having a good time.. It just really pisses me off thats all.. I havnt had any try to push me around out there, but I have heard stories about it happening. Plus it kinda helps that Im a Police Officer.. So if anyone tries to pull that crap with me, there will be big problems.. Thats what I meant. I'm not going to go out there looking for trouble. Im out there to have a great time with friends and hopefully I kill an Elk.. I didn mean to sound like an Ass..lol..

That is every weekend during hunting season, however, if you can get past a hunter on every other stump in certain areas, there are some huge bruiser bucks to be had....  I have seen absolute monsters equal to what has been posted on the deer hunting forum for this year up on the "Burn".  I have taken a couple of monsters off there, and seen a lot more come out of there as well.  You just have to be willing to work the heavy brush and thickets for them, leave the open clearcuts to the road hunters.
