Silk's Back From Elk Hunt 2008!
« on: November 07, 2008, 09:08:42 AM »
Well, I'll be honest.  I did not tag out but had a great time as always.  Opening day I had a heard of 50 not 200 yards from me, but could not get on them as they were stealthing through the timber.  A few hours later I jumped a bull 50 yards off the road, I started chasing him up the side of the mountain hoping to get a shot when the timber opened up, I was 100 yards away from where I wanted to be and KABOOMMMMM!  I beat the guy to the bull, turned out to be a nice 4 point.  After that we didn't see much.  Usually our area puts out 10-12 bulls a year, this year only 3 bulls got taken out as of today.  There was a lot of winter kill, but in general, we just weren't even seeing a lot of fresh sign.  Where are the animals at?  I do have some great pictures I'll be posting here shortly when I get my camera attatched.

Isn't that the truth.  I almost cried haha.  No just kidding I was just as excited as the guy was, Considering this is only my second year elk hunting, I think having a legitimate chance on a bull isn't too bad.
