" In today's instant gratification society, more and more pressure revolves around success and the measurement of one's prowess as a hunter by inches on a score chart or field photos produced on social media. Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield

To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.

Two Wisconsin archery whitetails. Wish I could claim I shot either one, but that is not the case. The first green scored 244 and was shot last year, the second beat it as the new state record archery buck, and was shot this year.

Both were fair chase. The first one has a great story associated with it that you can probably find with a google search.

Maybe not the biggest whitetail this year, but still an impressive deer.
