If it is new, take it back!
If it is a few years old, spiders and other crawlies or debris, can get into the supply tubes.
The first one I had did this, I took it apart and cleaned it as Sniper/Scout describes, and it ran for awhile just fine. The time I spent on it, when it happened again, I just bought a new one. This one has been going strong for years. Both of mine also ran better with a big a large bottle with hose attachment then with the small green bottles.
Not sure why?

It seems every year when I get to deer camp (the only time I use it) I have to re-learn how to start the dang thing, LOL

My buddy went through 3 models ( had to return) before he got one that's lights out...with out the same issues.

This is why I hesitate taking it back. Now that I'm looking online I find that it's a common issue. I'd rather take it apart and clean something than run back and forth to the store 20 miles round trip each time till I get a good copy that works well.

Thought you might like this too Josh, this piece lets you refill the little bottles from the big one so you don't need to keep buying the little ones, it works very well. http://t.harborfreight.com/propane-bottle-refill-kit-45989.html?utm_referrer=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bing.com%2Fsearch%3Fq%3Dharbor%2Bfreight%2Bpropane%2Bbottle%2Brefill%26form%3DAPIPA1

Mine's got a door that covers the attached propane bottle and another compartment to store an extra bottle. The piezo ignitor button is also enclosed behind a door. It's a little bigger than the Mr. Buddy heater which I assume is the one you have.

Mine does the same thing.  It shot off a dozen times or more on Sunday.

I have a big buddy. Works great except the guys leave the fan going all the time and the batteries die.

Remember if you decide to use a regular propane tank for it,you have to have a filter on it or you will have another problem.

Read instruction carefully.

Good luck.

My Mr. buddy heats my tent so well I only turn it on before getting into bed, then for the 10 minutes it takes me to get dressed in the morning.

My tent will get seriously way to warm for me if I let it burn all night.

Resurrecting this thread from the dead. I hope that's cool. I just learned about these heaters and I'm wondering if Jackelope ever got a resolution. We're still tent camping so I don't have the options that a floorless wall tent offers given heat, fuel source, and tipping-over concerns.

I just read this whole thread and didn't realize the date until i read Beans last post.

I have the same model as Jackelope, the hunting buddy. I have never had a problem with it, works great on both green and bulk tanks. It sure can gobble up the contents of a green bottle quickly when it's on high.
