What the public probably doesn't get is that he probably had a power boat right next to him all the way and he probably didn't paddle back home. It's not an incident or accomplishment which pushes fishing from a kayak any further than someone driving out into the middle of the Pacific on a power boat and getting off that boat into a kayak, then hooking a tuna. While it might be fun, it's quite contrived. If you want to see big fish go down in respectable style, watch the guys out of Hawaii hooking 10 foot sharks and marlin without wearing a life jacket, and they paddle from a beach unassisted.
