Custom 25.06 ?'s
« on: May 31, 2014, 12:48:36 PM »
So, my wife got this gun from her father who had it custom made (guessing early 70's). Its her "Big Girl Gun" haha
The barrel stamp says 25-06 cal. Watsons Gun Shop
She thinks the guy was from Spokane area.
The stock is beautiful.
Has an older Leupold scope
There is a few small rust spots from years of sitting in the closet before I knew of it.

Anyway, she wants to sell it and I can find anything on google to give a starting value.
Yes I know a gun is worth what someone will pay, but is that $500 or $1000 or ??

Any info on the gunsmith or gun itself is greatly appreciated.

That is just a beautiful piece with all the niceties of the period, converted safety, great caliber and nice wood, love the grip cap and forend.  I can't imagine wanting to sell something so nice.  The scope is a fixed Leupold which you can figure $200 for and with all the work done on the stock and metal it should go pretty good.  I'd scour the auction sights GB, Gunsa america and Gunsinternational for equivalent rifles and see what they are going for.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

Any idea what action was used?  From the pic showing the left side, it looks like an enfield, but it doesn't have the dog leg bolt.  Great looking rifle, I'd sat with the scope anywhere between 300-600

Thanks guys. I have searched both GB & GA, to no avail.
I honestly haven't a clue on the action.

Pull the scope rail off, marking might be under it.  On my sporterized enfield that is where they are

An Enfield has a safety on the side of the action and this one has a Model 70 type safety.  I'm guessing some type of Mauser action.

Military large ring Mauser.

I would clean it up and shoot it as it is family.
