Look at the stone glacier sky 5100 (condenses down to a day pack with meat hauling capability) or the new exo pack.  Better design, better quality and great customer service.

I have the Superday and I like it. It has a decent capacity and works awesome for checking cams and general scouting. I have had it two years and used it hard. No issues and it sits high enough to be comfortable all day.

Maybe a better first/token question in the "I need a new pack" threads is...

What is your budget?

I think the Superday is a comfy pack of decent quality. Is there better? Heck yeah. But we need to know how much you want to spend first. In that, lets say $100-200 range, I'd look hard at an Eberlestock x1 or x2 personally.
In that $400+ range, I'd follow Haugenna's advice.

I know I will buy a pack similar to Kuiu Ultra 6000 eventually, but for now I just need something for my early season and late season stuff. Not back country or really needed to pack much.

Buy the Ultra 1800 for now if you want to end up with the big one, then you just need the 6000 bag. You'll alreeady have the frame.
I will throw out there that the reviews coming back on the Ultra are less than awesome.
Just a heads up.

Besides budget, IMO the next most important question is. Will you need to pack meat? If the answer is YES, then all of the aformentioned packs will work and then some. If you do not need it to packmeat ( and thus weight ) then I really have never seen the reason to spend the money for the high dollar packs. ( 100 + ) There are a TON of packs that will fill the bill for under a hundred bucks ez. I hunted for several years with a Mad Dog gear backpack I picked up new for like 30 bucks. Quiet 4 or 5 pockets, and plenty good to haul calls, food, water, meat bags, and emergency equipment. After an animal was down I would stuff the backstraps and heart in the bag and come back with a packframe, meat cart, bike trailer or whatever to haul it out.

That said the Superday is a good deal, and a great lil daypack. I personally use a 2200 for the bulk of my dayuse. I like to have the ability to haul meat if needed and prefer the fit better. But the biggest reason is I really like that it opens from the back. So I dont need to remove my bow, shed horns, jackets or whatever to access my gear.

yes there are alot of very critical thoughts out there regarding the ultra but after playnig with it for a couple weeks now i cant stress enough how well thought out it is

i believe majority of people were not grading this pack for what it is,a minimalist pack

yes compared to other high end packs that have much more padding and material the ultra will come up short to expectations..just as a honda civic will come up short against a lambo ...but for what the pack is it is great....a lot of my hunts are in country where there's no way me (@ 165 pounds very fit) will ever be able to carry 120+ pound loads....its just too steep an rugged...so the ultra is perfect

now if i was hunting flatter land thats not nearly as demanding every single step i would definitely consider recommending a pack thats in the 5# range that you could load up to the gills with meat an horn and stagger off to the truck

the ultra is a minimalist pack and since 95% of hunters are not viewing it that way, its getting a bad rep....take it for what it is...put it in the class of other ultra light hauler type packs and this thing is amazing

hope this helps

also im assuming the op is out there to kill stuff so he will be wanting to pack out the meat at some point in time..and since theres no better time to pack than the first trip out than id think hed want a pack that can haul meat..

If you want to go the Kuiu route, get the ICON PRO  different from the ICON and different from the ULTRA.  The ICON pro has the better hip belt of the two and you can order a different bag.  Reviews on the Ultra hip belt and frame have been less than stellar and even worse when under a heavy load.

the icon pro and ultra have the same frame...icon pro just has the stouter suspension an 500d bag...oh and power pulls which i guess some folks cant live with out these days

its def gona be next on the list if the suspension of the ultra doesnt hold up over time tho

time will tell

its hairston thats been pimping it as the greatest hauler ever. handling and loooking at it, its obviously a minimalist pack, but marketing has made it out to be much more than it is.

Young enough to go for it.
