New Gundog
« on: June 29, 2014, 08:42:45 AM »
Well after years of hunting without a dog and lurking around, I finally found enough time in my life for a hunting dog. I got a Red Setter and did my first field trial yesterday. Met lots of good people and had some fun with my new dog at the trial. Pam is a started dog for Ben Berg. Me an my son had the time of our lives traveling cross country to get her in Minnesota. I can wait until she gets more comfortable with us and to go hunting. I mainly hunt wetside grouse and chukar with two little ones in tow. We are constantly outside and having fun. We are now in the Northwest Red Setter club and the South Sound Mushroom club both great clubs with great people.  Anyways hoping to meet up with some people that are close to Olympia to do some dog work with and learn more about handling a gun dog.

If anyone is going to do some dog work close to me with live birds. I would love to join in and share cost and chores.

Can't go wrong with a dog from one of the Berg brothers.

That is what I am am hoping for. The Berg's sure were a pleasure to deal with.

I can't wait to get my son and dog back into the woods.

Aspenbud do you know if it is to early to chase the grouse around. I don't want to hurt the broods.

It's just my opinion, but I think the Berg's understand some of the problems within their breed of choice better than others and are trying to exercise a higher level of selectivity than most.

No dog training on grouse until August 1st. Make sure you have a small or big game license and if you intend to check out private timber land check whether you need a permit from the company that owns it.

Nice looking family addition.  Had Red Setters many, many years ago.  Wonderful little dogs........
