Using Second Deer Permit for First Deer
« on: August 25, 2014, 07:03:49 AM »
You apply, get drawn, have a second deer permit in your hand for a given area with a given weapon type.  Since they are all antlerless, is there any reason you couldn't put your second deer tag on the first deer your get if it were a doe you saw first?

I don't really see anything that specifies that you need to take the deer in a specific sequence.  It seems the "second deer" terminology refers mostly to the idea that you can shoot 2, not the order that they need to be in.

Thoughts, references?

Thanks,
Stang

Sequence doesn't matter.  You could take your doe first(if it's sex specific) then hold out for whatever with your general tag.   Good luck.

Correct, as long as you take the 'second' deer first, DURING the time frame allowed for that special hunt.

Alright, thanks everyone.  Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something obvious.

only if both seasons are open.  if you use the second deer tag that season has to be open. you cannot switch tags if only one season is open.  hope I made that clear, but I went thru the same thoughts.  mike w
