Bucks are with does
« on: October 19, 2014, 08:29:01 PM »
I have been our for walks with the wife around the development and the bucks are with the does.  I also was up looking at elk areas and saw a spike with a doe.  So it is starting...

Spikes hang around does all the time.  When it gets going the spikes will get run off by both the does and the real bucks

My brother texted me a picture today of a real dark heavy three point that chased a doe around his yard for hours today. The big buck and two smaller (one 3x3 and one 2x2) ran her until she holed up under his daughters trampoline. All the deer rested for a bit until one of the little bucks tried getting under with her, she then took off into the woods again. It is definately starting, we should see some big ones hitting the dirt in the coming weeks. Good luck to all still hunting.

They aren't fired up around here yet. My girlfriend killed a buck today it was the 106th deer we've seen this summer "her biology degree has her keeping good data or I wouldn't have a clue" and it was the first buck bigger than a spike for us. He was stinking but not rutted up yet.

Smelled a really stinky small forky last night recovering Weathergirl's doe but a neighbor shot a forky Friday that had no hint of smelly/ruttyness.

Deffently some pre rut activity in Whatcom County. Almost hit 3 different bucks, 3 days in row heading home from work in the mornings. Also my backyard deer haven't left one little does side for about 24 hrs. Every time she showed up on cam the little 3s weren't far behind. I don't think she is ready as the big guy has been absent from my cam for a week now. So i figue he's out cruising. Last pics of him on my cam he looked swoll up. Got the next 9 days off so i hope to get into some action and I just scored some new property to hunt and anxouse to see what it holds

My daughter saw a 4x4 and 2x2 chasing a doe across the road infront of her bus this morning going to school. She figured the bus driver was lost again as she was stopping where there was no stop, turns out she was just trying to miss "all the deer in the road today"  :chuckle:. Yep getting closer for sure.
