I wouldn't have both in my possession while in the field. Leave one in the truck and hunt one specie at a time. Legal or not, it may well cause you grief if checked. As for a handgun, "A modern handgun may be carried for personal protection." You may have a difficult time explaining how shooting grouse is necessary for personal protection.

Both make sense, but at the same time there are lots of animals in the woods and if its legal to shoot, why would they give you a hard time? Especially if my shotgun had light bird loads in it. Is it illegal to shoot grouse with a handgun? Because if its not that should be fine also? Correct?
That would infuriate me.
