oregon or washington tuna fishing charters?

Lookin at doin a day or 2 of tuna fishing this summer. Looking for reccomenede charters. Not too particular about dates as long as its a saturday or friday.

These guys are the best at what they do. All rivers and Saltwater charters offer tuna trips that are quite a bit different than the rest of the big boats. Worth your time to talk with them.

I've been out twice with Mark Coleman for tuna.  Absolute blast to get 6 hanging on a bait stop.

I think if you went out on a big boat you would get a little more fishing time, but you'd definitely have a LOT more travel time in there too.  Both times we left the dock at 7am, went out 30-35 miles and just started catching fish.   The first trip we were back at 1 pm, every hold on the boat was stuffed with fish.  Second time we didn't get back until 3pm. 

I believe Mark is now buying the tuna from you that you don't want to take home, as well.  Could help defray some of the cost of the trip.  I came home with 60-70# of loins and bellies each trip.

This is a trip everybody should do once!

I checked out mark colemans outfit and will hopefully book a trip! hope it wont get canceled for weather since its such a far drive from Spokane

I've been out with Darrell when he ran one of Mark Coleman's boats, he was amazing. I haven't been out with him since he picked up his own boat, though I'm thinking about booking a trip cause he was such a cool captain.  Been out with Jim on the Epic the last 2 years on the opening of Hali and for Lings out of LaPush, Jim is amazing as well, he gets you into fish in the middle of people catching nothing.  Fish with Jim and you will learn a lot, he is very knowledgeable and a great guy. As far as I'm concerned, I wont be spending any other ocean charter money on anyone but these 3 guys.

Mark Coleman's operation is top knotch.  He knows his tuna and how to catch them.  Took 5 eastsiders over last summer and had a blast.  His boats are set up for speed, 1 hr to 1 1/2 hour travel to the tuna grounds then you are in full on action until the boat is plugged.  Its not for the weak, these things fight like nothing we've caught before.

We went during weather windows in October, so the fish were a bit bigger.  If I recall correctly, he could hold about 55-60 big albies for 6 guys.  Somebody else could verify that though.

Gann is 100% right.  10 of those albacore in a few hours will get those arms pumped up pretty good.

We went the last weekend in July.  The weather was pretty good but i think that august weather would be better.  We caught 43 fish between 6 guys and the boat couldn't hold any more, they have to stay on ice because they are so soft.

I don't know about averages, but we went the last day of August this year and six fishermen boated 56 nice sized tuna. The boat was full at that time and we couldn't hold anymore, capt said ok we're done and we were in the middle of a humongous bait pod and school of tuna.  I was spent about 10 fish before that. What a work out. I was exhausted. Not to mention I spent the first bit of the fishing "chumming" ( I was the only one on the boat that did. oh well, fished my way through it)
I trimmed and packaged mine when I got home, weighed them after vacuum sealing and right at 80 lbs.
