Wife wanted some new threads this year.  So I made her up some pin stripes!

Wish I knew a better way of taking string pictures that showed the whole bow.  Guess these crappy cell phone ones will do.

Striping works better with smaller strand material than XCel/452X.  Maybe next year I won't be so poor and can restock with some cool, shiny, thin stuff.  Other than colors being drab compared to Rhino, 8190 and Fury I sure love me some XCel.  Been the most stable, no rotation, tack driving material I've ever used.  Hot, cold, wet, humid...stuff stays where it was when I took it off the jig.

That's nice looking. I've had a good time with my strings and my bow has held a tune since o put the strings on.

Not quite so ugly now as the Purdy purple distracts from the blocky hubcaps and pretzel twists  

But nope that is not the bow.  She still has a strong connection with the Kobalt.  Mainly, like me, she choses it because of the awesome older grip.  I wanted her to shoot the Bear or the Ugly Hoyt because they are longer, faster and don't have that horrendous cam lean.  Kobalt did respond well to the use of .014" Bull Whip end serving.  Really cut down on the cam lean.

She has filled a few freezers with that Kobalt!  So hard to argue with the result of that bow in her hands.

I started having some issues with the Experience.  Still had the factory strings on it.  Which is odd as I don't usually fire a single arrow without building strings for each new bow.  But I was busy I guess, and now I am paying the price with timing issues just before my Utah trip.

So, I decided to use up some old 452X I've had laying around here.  We prefer to use XCel in place of 452X on our strings.  Had a half spool of Mountain Berry and a half spool of black.  Got tired of looking at it, but didn't want to throw it out.  So figured I would just deal with the heavy wax, bundle variations and fuzzing for one more string set.  Should look pretty good on the Black Ops with red accent Experience.  I'm sort of liking it.

Going to be interesting where the bow comes out, weight and draw length, with strings made to Manufacture Spec.  Put the old ones on the jig and they are 1/4-5/16 long on cables and 1/2" long on string.  That's quite a bit of creep for Trophy or even 8190.  That would be kind of crazy for a bow company who measures strings to the 64th of an inch.  Makes me think they made my 64# bow with 70# limbs.  Would not be the first time.  Will have it tuned Saturday afternoon then we'll see.

So when are you going to start making strings commercially? Peeps  and broadheads already, strings should be next right? Sign me up for 2 sets!

Commercial strings would be WAY down on my priority list!  I have a number of friends that do commercial strings.  Sounds like the only thing hunters complain about more than a $5.00 peep is the string it goes on   Though it sure would be nice to never again have to work with a tool maker or a machinist!

If I ever made strings for money they would be consumer direct and DANG expensive!!!

Well, that explains a lot!!!  Dang factory strings had crept a crazy amount.  Guess that's the last time I use Octane strings 'cause I'm too busy or lazy to make good ones.  Thought the draw length was going out of whack.  Got the new strings and cables on, everything tuned and stretched to the 32th of an inch by factory specs.  63.9# of weight - 28.5" of draw length.  1/10th of a pound from where it should be!

Good to know I'm not losing my mind.  I was thinking it was my shooting going down the crapper.  Can't blame old age and feeble mind on this one.  Just the CrapFactory strings!   

Utah bulls better watch out - she's sexy and deadly now.
