Baiting or not?
« on: September 14, 2015, 11:36:47 AM »
OK, I am sure this is a dumb question... Has anyone used the scent/attractants feed stuff that comes in the bag, always has a really tough name like RAGE, CRUSH, APPLE SMASH...? It seems to be very prevalent on all the archery hunting shows, but this seems to me to be baiting? I am assuming this is illegal in Wa. Just wondering what the ruling is on this, as I stumbled on a pile of it last year during late buck.

Baiting deer is legal in Washington.

I've used most of that stuff.....not worth the money. Some apples, alfalfa, or cob is far better.

Yes it is bait and no it is not illegal during deer season.
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

Tried apples and all it attracted was bees and lots of them... in fact enough to eat all the apples in 3 spots in under a week. Did separate areas with Big & J liquid luck and the deer devoured it, tried peanut butter with no luck, and currently have some home made stuff I found on youtube and will know on that this weekend when I check the camera.

couple years ago i got some stump licker and by golly, i had deer licking the stump! :yike:   I'd put the stump licker down at a new bait pile and wanted the deer to find it with the sweet smell.

They do seem to like them really ripe.

Bears are pretty picky with them too when there is food around they usually wait to raid pear trees till they are ripe
