Newbies need help-342

New to the forum here!
Here's my situation (take it easy on me I'll never ask for tips on an area again, but I can't take another year of my wife asking why I continue to hunt and be unsuccessful). Going into my 4th year of elk hunting. Spent first year in umptanum and last 2 in manastash. Drew the umptanum muzzleload cow this year. I'm a back country hunter and will be bivy hunting the whole time.
I'm struggling whether to go in at hardy and work my way northwest or go in at the northwest corner and work my way to Hardy. I know there is going to be a million hunters in there this year and I'm willing to put in the work to get to the elk.
Any tips on the unit?

I hunt there centerfire,go in and hunt the wind, but make sure you have your packboard with you as the pack out is a bear. You will find game trails that climb out, very rocky but doable.
Watch the creek area for rattler's ,many deadfalls.
