Trentons 1st Bear

Nothing better for a Dad when thier son is a successful hunter! Hunting for deer opening day, late afternoon we were hunting a creek bottom where I had seen a buck this summer. We could hear a bunch of racket going on across the creek from us, and thought it was an elk raking a tree. So we sneak in to get a better look. My son was about 10 yards ahead of me, when he got a little closer, he turns back to me and mouths " bear"!! Looked around for Cubs, didn't see any so he shot it. 1 shot, hit it in the shoulder, heart and lungs were jellied when we gutted it. After the shot, the bear fell out of the tree( it was up a small tree working over a old tall stump) , bear did a few spins, ran 10 feet, collapsed, gave the death moan and died!! We cross the creek, I had him throw a few sticks at it, no movement, she was done. We had some hunting partners near, so we got them down there and packed it out. Got to the clearing below the truck right at dark, went the last 200 yards uphill to the trucks in the dark. His first bear, proud dad right here!!
