In Memoriam

Just had to put down my black lab hunting partner this morning - she had a cancerous growth in her nasal cavity, it had gotten progressively worse and we finally reached "the time". Hardest thing I've ever had to do, and I know I was doing the right thing. Still feels like my heart has been ripped out of my chest. I basically just lived out the end 'Old Yeller', and I cried at that, too.
Enjoy the time you have with your canine friends, both in the field and at home. You don't realize how much a part of you they are until it's time to say goodbye. Now, back to my crying.
We love you, Fallon.

Ugh, so very sad! Lot of guys on here know exactly what your going through. I had to put my lab down almost 2 years ago, looked at her pic on the wall before I left for work today, still felt sad about it. Take care

Sorry for your loss.
Had to do the same for my yellow this last spring for the same reason, just different location.

So sorry for your loss. I have two black labs and they are the very best. I dread what you are going through...

I've been fortunate to have had Labs for 40+ years. Had to have more that half put down, all I can tell you, at least in my case, is it never gets any easier. I know one thing for certain though, the emptiness of living without a dog is worse than knowing that I will lose them before I pass on.
Rest in peace Fallon, you were loved and lived the good life.

Sorry for your loss. Nov. 10th will be one year since I said good night for the last time to my chocolate girl Abbey (13 1/2yrs). It was brutal, it still makes my stomach hurt and eyes water as I type this. I made it a total of 40 days before we welcomed a new choc. girl into our lives...she will turn 1 on the 1st of Nov. She didn't replace Abbey, that is impossible, but I now realize I love this new one with all my heart. I realized life sucks without a dog, that is just how I am wired I guess, and with that comes the responsibility to make "The Call" for my dogs since that can't make it themselves. I know all too well how bad you are hurting right now. Grieve and then get another dog, notice I didn't say replace Fallon...we both know that simply isn't possible.
Good luck and prayers sent...and enjoy that pup when that day arrives.
Mike

I posted something in the Dog Memorials Thread...hard to do then, but glad I did...part of the process.

Very sorry for your loss. I lost my 13 1/2 year old black Lab Chiqua 2 years ago and it was the worst day of my life. Looking at her ashes, collar and picture as I type (aka, the shrine). I would have vastly preferred to see any/all of my family and friends shed their mortal coil versus that dog- she meant that much to me. Nothing that any of us can say that will make it better.....just know that we've all dealt with it and will continue to deal with it as the price of sharing our lives with these dang pups.
