Good morning all! First all of, I want to thank all that have replied, offered prayers, help, gear, and the opportunity!! Good news-the young man was offered a tag (actually two different folks offered-which goes to show us that hunters do have the best of intentions and hearts!!!) and he will be going over this Saturday for his opportunity!! What a true blessing.  There are a few I will thank in particular, and I will do that when I add pic's of his hunt after Saturday (and with their permission to post who they are on the forum).

My family and I were able to go to dinner with the young man and his family last evening. I had informed his father earlier in the day about the possibility, who in turn informed the boy's mother. As we were sitting at dinner I asked the mother if they had said anything to him about the tag. Mom replied "no" we were waiting for you to do it". So I brought him over and sat him down and asked "hey bud, what do you have going Saturday?". He thought for a few seconds, probably worried that I was going to have him come out and help my son move the firewood pile or something  :chuckle:, and said "nothing, why coach". I said, well, I reached out to some friends on the hunting forum and explained a little about what's going on with you, and was hoping to get you the chance to maybe go shoot a cow elk in the near future through a damage tag". He sat there. I was like "well, would you be interested?". He was like "heck yeah!!!'. I said, well through the generosity and caring of some individuals on the forum, you were given a damage tag to go and do just that! You get the chance to go over this Saturday and try for an elk!" He sat there again trying to process what I just said. And sat there, then said REALLY!! REALLY!! I get to go shoot an elk?!?!!?!?!?! NO WAY!!! He almost jumped out of his seat at the restaurant!! I wish I would have videoed the conversation actually! He was so excited!! It was like he just hit a walk off homerun!! He said " I really get to go and shoot an elk, that is flippin' awesome!!

Anyway, the look on his face was priceless. He could barely contain himself the rest of the time at dinner. I bet he even had a bit of a sleepless night last night?! That will be nothing compared the sleepless night he has Friday night before his very 1st elk hunt!!!!

Again, thank you all so very much! My night might be pretty darn sleepless Friday as well :-)

This is one of many reasons I love hunting. It can bring out the highlight of any situation. And it really shows show us as hunters can pull together and make someone's dream come true. Can't wait to hear the outcome. Good luck.
