Tire suggestions

So for clay and mud, the Duratracs have been outstanding for me.  I'm going to be shameless in my endorsement:

I have ran Toyo MTs, Coopers, Duratracs and Nitto Trail Grapplers on a 1/2 ton pickup and Toyota 4Runner.  I would endorse the Nitto Mud Grappler but it's probably out of your price range and I haven't personally used them.  That tire evacuates better than anything I have seen

My driveway is 1000 steep feet of mixed clay and soil.  Some places solid clay.  Duratracs clean themselves very well, better than anything I have used.  Also the best MT tire when it comes to snow and ice in my experience.

I'll second this   I run 35" Duratracs on my 03 Yukon XL and the are far probably the bast all around tire I've ever ran on any of my riggs.

I had 33 inch BFG KM2's on my 12 Tacoma crew cab TRD. Tires were at 95+% when I purchased it at 6k and had around 75% on them when I sold it at 24k. I rotated them every 5k. Noise wasn't horrible but more than a new Toyo MT produces, certainly less noise than any truck I've ridden in with Cooper MT's on it they are LOUD! I took that truck through many conditions and as anyone who owns or has ridden in one knows as far as off road goes, you point it and it will go. On the road most conditions were fine but it left a bit to be desired on icy streets. It wasn't unmanageable but I'm sure it would have been better with studs or a winter type tire.

FIL has Coopers st maxx on his super duty they are quiet and seem to do quite well in off road situations they also seem to be wearing very well.

This last November I put another set of Michelins on my F150. They had 94,000 on them an there was still quite a bit of tread to go before the warning mark. They're an "E" series 10 ply. I haul my camper and tow my 17' boat and have never had a problem. They're not a mud grip by any means but they sure do last a long time.

I have had bfg at & Mt , Cooper stt,  toyo my, and currently wrangler mt...my favorties have been the stt's and the wranglers....the wranglers came on my current Tacoma when I bought it and they have performed beyond my expectations...not noisy and lots of traction and clean out fairly well...but when these wear out I will probably go back to the stt's...they have performed the best for me

Those coopers look pretty nice but the Nitto and goodyear's aren't quite as aggressive / open of a tread pattern as i am looking for.Please keep the suggestions coming 

These really arent that noisy with the stereo turned up. But I run duratracs on my DD.

I've ran most brands of aggressive mud terrain tires over the years on my Toyota's. Currently running the second set of Hercules Trail Diggers. The prices were great and the last set lasted as long as any tire I've ran. Very open tread pattern the 265's have the tread stance of a normal 245. They are similar to the Nokian Vativa M/T's I once ran, but definately longer lasting. I have no reason to look for another aggressive tire these days. Next all terrain tire I buy will be the Cooper ST Maxx. I know of two sets on Tacoma's and one in nearing 60K miles. Performance is exceptional as well.

Most people greatly over estimate thier off road use. Most people would do good to get some kind of All Terrain and a set of burly chains, OR 2 sets of tires on wheels.
Fact; the same tire traits that give increased tire traction also increase wear.  The Larger the voide between lugs and lugs that are 90 deg to the tire face, like boggers or bfg km2, have more traction and less wear. The closest thing to a Magical mud terrain that gives you the best performance with the least negatives was the OLD BFG Mud terrrain.  Correct airpressure, rotation and alignment will do the most to extend the life of your tires. How many brand new "Spares" to you sea for sale on CL and else where? A TON! what this tells me is that most people dont rotate thier tires and get the most life out of the set they have.

Whats the best type of tire? The used Kind. My buddy just purchased 5 33x12.5x15 Toyo M/T for $700 from a private seller at about 75% tread!  That is a HUGE savings even if you compare the amount of tread left from new!  These tires go for aprox $250-$280 ea. At this kind of discount you can afford to run whatever brand or tread design you favor because  some one else already too the hit on buying new.

Check out the BFG K02. I just put them on my diesel pickup and really like them! A little more aggressive than the original AT.

My next set on the f150 will either be those, or the Duratracs...
