Muley or whitey?
« on: February 16, 2016, 09:09:15 PM »
So I found these old ones today. The top two were found lying next to each other. So they look like they could be from a white tail. I've never seen a white tail in Chelan county, but I know others have. What do you guys think?

Ive seen 3 or 4 whitetails bigger than that with no browtines.  Picked up a shed from one after getting him on camera.  Its rare but it happens

I agree. But add into that the fact that it is in Chelan county and I think it really lowers the probability that it is a whitetail. It's possible but not likely. Just my opinion.

Ya im not calling them whitetail antlers, just saying that there are sometimes 3x3 whitetails with no browtines, so that alone isnt always proof positive

The way the main beam curls and the look of the G2 made me think it could have been a whitey. Didn't realize that even a young white tail buck Would always have eye guards. Learn something every day.

Every drainage that has forest cover and reaches the Columbia River in Chelan County has a few whitetails, with the greatest numbers north of Lake Chelan.  I've seen them in Mission, Chiwawa, Swakane, Entiat and Manson GMUs.  I'd say the odds are 99% those are mule deer sheds, Romulus' I'd say is a typical 4pt whitetail.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.
