Any Borah bivy and tarp users?
« on: March 04, 2016, 11:43:42 AM »
I just pulled the trigger on a Borah bug bivy and tarp. They seem pretty popular in the ultra light back pack world.  Less than a pound for both.  I am going to be using this setup for solo elk.  Has anyone else ran a setup like this?, or used Borah products before?

I have both a bora bivy and bora tarp.  Big fan of the tarp, the bivy is not bad.  I got the wide bivy and should have gone with the narrow, because everything really slides around.  I have mostly fixed this by tieing up the extra material around the footbox.  My sleeping bag doesnt have a hood, so if a cold gust of wind comes in neither the bivy or my bag protects me. For high buck this year I am planning on switching to a bivy with a hood, I will still use my bora for places and times that have bugs though.
You will never shoot a camp bull by spending all your time hunting in the woods.

I have a Borah M90 bivy and a Cuben Fiber tarp. I'm pretty happy with my setup. I run a 10° EE quilt with mine.

I also run a 10 degree quilt.  That was a good call with head protection with the bug bivy.  I know they can custom make some stuff so i emailed them to see if it's to late to add to the bivy.  I hope not.  If it is, i know you can get some nice hoods to wear.

I run the same bivy tarp combo as 7 Mag. I've been running it for 3 years now with no complaint.

Hopefully upgrading to a quilt this year.
