Strange cow elk
« on: April 30, 2016, 08:48:59 PM »
I was shed hunting today, and I seen a small group of cows. One of the cows had a huge tumor looking thing below her jaw. Has anyone ever seen anything like this?

Sorry for the blurry pic I took it through my binos before they smelled me and ran off.

I saw one like this that was laying down at a feeding station. She had her head and neck up though but the same neck growth under the jaw area.

Could also be a cheat grass lump/lumpy jaw. We have had cows get them, so I am sure other ungulates can get it to. Causes a big massive lump like that. You can drain them and such but depending on where they are at. Sometimes it really does not effect the animal. Other times it does drastically effect them.

Seen a whitetail in Walla Walla get taken with two large growths like that.  I didn't know the hunter and don't know how the meat was, I just helped him drag it to the road.
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.
