GMU 127 spots? / First time Elk hunting
« on: June 01, 2016, 12:34:09 PM »
Hey guys,
Cool site!
I'm new to the area and brand new to the site. Without any hunting friends or acquaintances in WA yet, I'm finding it hard to identify a good place in 127 to take my 12 year old son. Modern Riffle/ Any Elk/ Oct 29th - Nov 6th.

Anyone out there planning on hunting this area? Or does anyone have info that might point me in the right direction?

Thanks so much!

-C

lots of private land, not much access, and most people that know where the elk are are pretty tight lipped.  there are elk up on Mica Peak, but some are talking about wolves having an effect on them.  If you're stuck on 127 without a landowner honey hole, that's where I'd go.  Get your IEP pass down at whites boots and wander around like the rest of us!

Welcome to the site.  :hello:

724wd pretty much nailed it.  Mostly private, get the IEP pass and hope to get lucky if you don't have private land permission.

Another option is take the kid out knocking on doors for land to deer hunt on, kids can shoot whitetail does in that unit.  From there you may be able to start a conversation on where the elk are after the first year and maybe get an in that way.
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

Every father should remember that one day his children will follow his example instead of his advice.
