Road 7030 green water
« on: July 20, 2016, 11:18:28 AM »
So here's my question I plan on hunting up there this season is it legal to camp up there? Any legal issues with anything else like trespassing on tribal land I don't know about?

You should be good to go.  Just make sure you are aware of the fire situation (i.e. burn ban) because I know they patrol that area during high risks.

You can camp, they call it "dispersed camping" if you ever wanna look up info online on the forest website (typical rules like like pack in pack out, dig a 6' hole for poopin in  :chuckle:, etc). They have their own burn ban regulations that differ from DNR, and someone more knowledgeable might be able to weigh in but I think you have to have the Northwest Forest pass. Like a discover pass, but for national forest land use.. http://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/mbs/passes-permits/recreation/?cid=fsbdev2_027010

We have a campsite we go to almost every summer that's just on the other side of the river, I know they have the signs up that say the pass is required for anyone on the FS roads out there  :dunno:

If you stay on the 7030 road the land is almost entirely USFS, there are a couple chunks of private (Plum Creek Timber) land.

Just don't camp (or do anything) on the former Hancock/now Muckleshoot land. Hancock had private property signs up for years and people ignored it, got charged with trespass and the next day there were more people doing the same thing. Just because you are on a USFS road doesn't mean the land is USFS...

Link to a map of the tree farm which shows tribal land is well west of the 7030. Only the land near the lowest part of road 70 is tribal land. You CAN hunt parts of this property if you buy a pass. Also note that Stampede and White River GMU's are on either side of 7030 (for about a mile north of the 7030/7036 junction) which have slightly different rules if you also hunt deer up there.
