Awesome blacktail  eye guards on that thing are cool.
I had a similar gig with a big buck this year. I had already tagged out the weekend earlier, so I couldn't shoot though. I was walking down the same kind of over grown road. I could smell a buck big time, so I grunted one time, and instantly herd something comming through the brush. One of the biggest blacktail I've seen in my area came out on the road, and was heading right for me. Got 30ft from me before he realized I was standing there. We had a 5min stare down. The whole time we were starring at each other there was another buck in the brush grunting, weazing, and tearing a tree up. It was pretty cool. I'd never heard blacktail doing that myself.  Learned some good stuff for next year.
   Thanks for posting

Thanks all!  It was a great close-up and personal experience for sure, the nice, open/semi-open ranged clear cut shots are nice, but this experience makes me want to feel that rush of hunting in thick brush!  Thanks again for sharing in our adventure, and its nice to be able to share with others who can appreciate it.

bigmacc, his teeth are worn, but look pretty good, and surprisingly, I could only find a few ticks on him, maybe 4 in all, maybe the meat is too old....lol

ElkBOW, it always is!   :IBCOOL:

Thanks Turner89, yeah that is similar to what we had experienced, and just as they are learnin', I learned a bit more this year.  Closest I had been to one to actually hear the wheezing.

A two-fer!  Absolutely awesome!  Great story too.

I can't decide which buck I like better. On the one hand, I like big forks. But on the other hand, I like knarly bases.
