Purchasing reloads for 7mm magnum - accubonds
« on: August 21, 2017, 10:18:08 PM »
After moving back from Alabama where Core-Lokt bullets were sufficient for the 5-50 yard shots I was taking on miniature whitetails, I am really interested in purchasing ammunition loaded with the standard Nosler Accubonds for my 7mm mag (not the new Long Range Accubonds). I have heard great things about them from friends who use them - however, I am having a lot of trouble finding any Accubond loads for the 7mm. Federal used to load them, but discontinued them a few years back about the time I was getting interested in them. Sportsman's Warehouse carries a few boxes of Nosler brand now and again, but while I am a strong supporter of Sportsman's, I just can't bring myself to spend $60 for a box of ammo - especially since I don't know how my Model 700 will like them. Midway USA sells Nosler brand for a little cheaper but with shipping, it still comes out to $60. So - the question is: does anyone know of a store in western or southern Washington that sells reloads at a reasonable price and would be willing to load 7mm mag rounds with Accubonds? I have never gone down this route before (always bought factory ammo), so I am probably ignorant on the whole subject of purchasing reloads. Alternately, are there any members on here that are interested in selling reloads and are reputable reloaders? I have plenty of brass rounds that I can contribute to help offset the cost if necessary or throw in as an incentive. As most people will caution, I realize that I need to be careful who I buy reloads from for safety's sake. I would love to just reload them myself, but I am not at the point yet where I can start this up and I don't shoot enough now to make the initial startup cost worth it. Thanks in advance for any advice! Any Accubond stories would also be appreciated!

Winchester supreme might be right up your alley should run around 45 a box. Loaded with 160 accubonds.

Accubonds are great killers. I have taken a lot of game with them and also you might check out the eldx another great bullet. You can buy that stuff loaded for about 40-45 a box.

Reloads can be so iffy got to be super careful.

Are the Winchester Supremes pretty reliable rounds? I used to shoot their basic PowerPoints back in the day, but wouldn't mind shooting Winchester Accubonds if yall thought they were good rounds. Are these the same as the Winchester Expeditions (they seem to be the only 7mm accubonds I can find made by Winchester)?

Oh yes. If I was buying factory ammo that would be my go to choice if the ammo shot well in my gun.
They are much better ammo then there power point silver box stuff.

I saw 160 gr. federal accubonds in the Kelso Sportsmans Warehouse Sunday! Don't remember how much they were. Federal must have started rolling them out again.

Heres a link to Federals site saying they brought back the Federal premier Accubond.

Neat! Except for the part where they list every cartridge EXCEPT the 7mm mag! Now why would they do that? They are making it for 7mm mauser, 7mm-08, and 7mm WSM, but not the magnum according to that link. I'm glad they are making a round for the 7mm mauser, because up until now the only bullet that was on the mainstream market for that gun was the pointed soft points. My dad uses a 7mm mauser for deer and it will be good to have a quality bullet for that gun. But why avoid the 7mm magnum of all things?!

Also, it looks like the new Federal Premium rounds with Accubonds haven't hit the market yet. You would think they would want to have them ready before hunting season. Thanks for the info on these! At least it will be useful for my dad's Mauser.

I noticed they weren't listed on Federal site. But I had a box of 7mm rem. Mag in my hands. In fact I opened them to look at the bullets.
