New member of the family
« on: January 08, 2018, 03:18:32 PM »
Got our new yellow lab pup a few weeks back.  He is now 11 weeks old, just under 25 lbs, and retrieves anything I throw (toys, sticks, wings, anything!).  Hoping for many years of fun in the field/duck blind with this guy!  Bonus - My 6 and 3 year old girls think I'm the best daddy in the world!

Good looking pup, congrats!

Thank you!

I should also say, this is the first bird dog I will be training on my own (with the help of a friend who's trained a handful of duck dogs), so any advice on things to do or not to do would be greatly appreciated!  What has worked for you, what hasn't, etc.  I'm smart enough to know that no matter how much I read or watch or learn, I can always learn more.

With that attitude you are a long way ahead of the game already.  Your pup will turn out great.  He is a good looking dog.  Have fun!

Thanks much!  He has been a blast to have around the house.  We put down our old boy the day after Thanksgiving, and the house felt pretty empty.  House feels pretty full now!
