who uses paper archery targets
« on: July 04, 2018, 05:51:24 PM »
who uses them?  What do you use?

I found out that a big round hay bale works great for shooting, so I've got a bunch of archery targets.  I go around the hay field shooting round bales at all different ranges and elevations.  Now I want to pin on cardboard or paper animal silhouettes to pin on the hay bales.

Just gotta make sure you shoot the round face of the bale and not the open ends, and make sure you shoot well in from the edges.

Only when I’m in Vegas.

I generally shoot at a block. Or I spray paint the hay bail.
Paper seems to be a genuine pain in the ass with little to no benefit.

It's not just for me, I could just shoot a block I got like 3 :chuckle:

We got a few young'uns and some cool paper might drive up more interest.  Like a ghetto 3D shoot on the cheap

With that in mind, it’s a great idea. We need all the young kids we can get involved.

Good on you for helping them out.

I shove lumber wrap (plastic tarp like material) into burlap coffee sacks and they work amazing. Ill tape a paper target onto the front of one or Ill just spray paint a bullseye directly onto it.

I just picked up a stud mule deer from solo targets.  So far it's pretty cool.  Life size, no vitals so you really have to focus on picking a spot.  It heals pretty well with field points.  Time will tell how long it holds up.  Definitely a bit spendy for daily shooting vs a paper target but good for a couple nights a week.  Use promo code TRO for a discount.

These are just life-size paper targets that you hang in front of your block Target? Their site kinda sucks at explaining exactly what is going on for the price

not paper. They are a rigid corrugated plastic I guess would be the best explanation. You put them up against an existing Target.

Ill shoot paper to get an idea on arrow flight.  Occasionally Ill do it for something to do "score" wise as a game.

I might do something like this, borrow an old school projector and use blue board
