Hey guys new to the forum

have been reading some of the threads for the past few years just never got around to making an account, my name is erron and I am from Kennewick,Wa and have been hunting for elk going on 15 years now mainly up in the cowiche unit but exploring new areas yearly now, I am also an avid waterfowl, turkey, and big game hunter when the family wants to go. Finally got around to check what we got for tags and ended up drawing a muzzy taneum cow elk tag, my dad hunted it over 35 years ago and looking at the maps he was saying its looks more logged out then it was years ago, that and all the orv trails that onx was showing. Every thing I have read about the unit guys are saying go to north facing hillsides and steep and deep, my dad is at the age where he cant go into those areas but my brother and I can easily hike in and hunt them. Would hunting the central to east side of the unit be a bust vs hunting the southwest to west side of the unit? not looking for any spots, gonna be scouting it this summer just don't want to get spend time in areas that wont be worth during muzzle season.
thank you guys for any help or pointers you are willing to give
