Kinda figured everyone was shooting the heavies, oh well, won't be the first time I've been odd man and shot something different than the rest.

Not in 6mm Creedmoor, but in a 6mm Rem AI 1:10 twist in the early 2000's - I used a bunch of the 70gr TNT. They are not much of a long range bullet of course, but are excellent for varmints; very accurate and explosive, and also cheap in bulk. They are not supposed to be pushed faster than 3550 fps but my accuracy load was at 3750 and max was 3900.

I run the 115 Bergers. RL 16, cci 450’s. Very accurate and easy to load for. Had it shooting 1” at 300 pretty quick.  3022 FPS in 24” barrel.

I just finished testing some Speer 100gr spitzer boattails with 8208 XBR and had 4 impacts in the same splash area on a 6 inch target at 400 yards.  I think they’ll do fine for hunting whitetail.  I was going to try the 80gr Barnes TTSX, but thought I would see what the cheap Speers would do, accuracy-wise.

I've had this McMillan Varmint model stock and Rem 700 SA that's all ready to go, sitting on the shelf for awhile now and recently came up with the bright idea to build a 20in. barreled 6mm Creedmoor using a 9tw Proof Research barrel with the intentions of mostly only shooting 70gr Nosler Ballistic Tips. 

I'm wanting to keep the weight, somewhat, down and since the barrel channel in my stock is cut for a varmint contour, using a small contour barrel like a #3 or 4, in this stock, would have looked like a hot dog laying in a canoe and I didn't want the weight of an all steel varmint contour barrel so that's my reasoning for going with the Proof CF barrel, that, and I have to admit, I like how they look.  UPS dropped the barrel off yesterday.

I can't say that I'm a real huge fan of Vortex scopes but I have a couple sitting on the shelf to choose from, a Vortex HS-T 4-16x44 and a Razor HD LH 3-15x42.  I'm kind of leaning toward the HS-T at the moment because I think it'll look more appropriate on this build and I'll maybe save the Razor HD LH for something truly lightweight down the road.  Just guessing, I think this build will probably come in right at 9lbs +/- a couple ounces and that's scoped up ready to shoot, so even with the Proof barrel, it won't be all that lightweight.

Should make for a fun medium range varmint/coyote gun.

My next barrel will be a 7 tw and use 115s. I’m shooting 105s at 2940 from a 26 inch barrel at less than starting load. Thinking 115 about that speed or 3000 would be a good set up.

What powder are you using?  I know guys using RL26 with the heavies are getting into the 3200fps range with 26in barrels.

Im using imr4831. Not chasing speed at all. I had them up to 3200+ and still didn’t hit pressure but backed it down to 2940. It’s just so dang easy to shoot and much less recoil there.

7tw and 115’s is a great combo imo.  Has worked very well with my 243

And this is exactly why I continue to do business with Defensive Edge Rifles.  Shawn called earlier today and said it was done.  Wow, build was done in less than a month and it shoots like this, can't complain about that!
