Where to go?
« on: October 15, 2020, 02:53:42 PM »
The Army brought me to Washington a few years ago and I'm just now finding the time to hunt.  I'm looking to go to Eastern WA to hunt whitetail but have no idea where to go.  I can get on private land in GMU 139 south of Rock Lake but I don't know if there's any deer there.  I'll take any input, thanks!

I am also new to the area. I hunted modern mule deer last year and found success in central Wa in open sagebrush terrain glass and stalk, 4 pt. Muley. Now for schedule reasons I am looking at GMU 121 for late season whitetail. Prospects from WDFW has led me to believe lower elevation open terrain amongst farm land could produce some action glass and stalk on public land, I plan on spending a long weekend in that area scouting and checking things out. You know about the prospects page on WDFW? definitely helped me out

If I was military I'd try and hunt on JBLM land. I drive through some of the southern areas of it often, seems decent.

There's apparently a fair amount of threads on this site for 121.  Just click on search then throw 121 in the search field and see what you get.

If the property was more than 50 acres with brush and trees, I'd just go for it.  Pack the rig and start driving.  You'll have to get out there and scout it out to see what the real situation is.

Thank you for your service.  Good luck!
