2020 in the books.
« on: November 09, 2020, 10:33:59 PM »
Just wanted to drop in and say congrats to everyone who harvested an animal and to everyone who gave it their all.

I didn't come home with an elk, but I have to say besides that, it's hard to have had a better season.  It's been a hell of a year (as it has been for a whole lot of folks on here) and I'm just pumped to have gotten in 5 full days of elk hunting.  I saw plenty of animals, was within shooting distance of elk every day I was out, and almost got within shot distance of spikes on 2 occasions.  Technically, I think I was within shooting distance of a spike on Sunday, but from 400 yds I couldn't quite tell if they were bumps on his head or ruffles in her fur, so I decided to go find big brother.

My highlight this year is that I found many elk laying down in their beds -- that's a new one for me, and definitely makes me feel like I'm improving as a hunter.

I hope you all had a blast this season!

Here's my success for the year:
"master" hunter - still a noob.

That's awesome!  For me there's great satisfaction anytime I find a deer/elk in their beds with a spotting scope.  Especially when my other hunting buddies have already covered the same area several times and found nothing.  :)

Awesome attitude.

I'm always happy to at least get into some animals and have a legitimate shot opportunity present itself during the season.

Good times

Tag soup for me too but I enjoyed my 5 days of bumbling around the woods not finding the elk. The last two days I was more just trying to find a living breathing elk than actually find a legal animal to harvest. Didnt see anything more than fresh tracks but still a good time.
