Fire Danger and Kapowsin Permit Area Closure
« on: July 19, 2023, 06:36:05 PM »
Got the email today.

Quote
Thank you for being a permit holder with Manulife Investment Management.  As you know, the safety of our staff, contractors, and those recreating our land is a top priority. After discussions with staff and local officials, we will be closing the Kapowsin Permit Area to recreation access effective Monday July 24th. We will be monitoring & evaluating conditions to determine a reopening. We will be sure to keep you updated as we move forward.

I know that these closures are weather-dependent, but does anyone know roughly how long they tend to last?

Thanks,

Okie John

Significant rain fall is the only thing that will change their minds
That will not happen.
Same thing every year and I get it.
No one wants that place to burn.

Yup, prob closed till October, BUT for those lucky ducks that drew elk permits (access), they have always let you in to hunt.
“In common with”..... not so much!!

How has deer hunting experiences been up their last few years for folks? Seems the success rate isn't the greatest and being that most can't hunt elk, bear season is always closed to fire danger, and missing berry crop picking due to fire danger, late season at times gets closed due to wet conditions, no spring bear, etc. Mainly seems that the permit is mostly utilized for firewood cutting and deer hunting. Years ago it used to be great for deer. But seems it is on the downward trend. Just seems to be a lot of money for what you get back. What are your guys thoughts on the permit program. Yes the hope to draw the once in a lifetime elk tag seems to be the big incentive to put in from what I see.
Maturity is when you have the power to destroy someone who did you wrong but instead you breathe, walk away, and let life take care of them.
