A rice dish, not quite done yet, so a little wet still. We like it.

Its like chicken and rice...with grouse and more seasoning :chuckle:

I cooked grouse in many a camp with just the breasts and legs lightly floured with a bit of salt, pepper and seasoning salt, and a couple of slices of bacon. Simply superb!

If I could figure out how to post a photo on this _)(&&(R$$#%$#(&*(*& forum, I'd post a photo from flickr I shot last year on the Maverick Saddle north of Sugarloaf lookout out of Leavenworth.

Man... I just ate lunch and  those pics made me fricken hungry again!!! I prefer the blue too.

I'll be the odd man and cast my vote for ruffeds.  Kind of like asking whether I prefer porterhouse or ribeye though.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

I've hunted and bagged both, but prefer blues over ruffed.

My brother shot the head off one at 5 yds. with a 7mm STW... no head left.  Tasted yummy though!  Oh, an I like blues the best, just because I  like the high country more.  But I will shoot either.

Geez, ya think he used enough gun, there, alec?

Just for laughs, how large do you think an adult blue grouse can get?
How many pounds?
How tall?

I have seen a blue grouse way in the middle of no-where, that was the size of a smaller turkey!   :yike:  I am not kidding at all,   :o

I believe you. I have seen really large blue grouse over the years; big enough that one bird's split breast could provide the main course for two people. That's a lot of grouse!

I am anxious this year to try Grouse parmigiana. That ought to be delicious!

Of course, first I have to shoot one of the buggers...

I prefer blues because of the size but I'm not into discriminating.

I am a grouse killer and eater.  Nothing pure about me, at my age!  :chuckle:

Blue grouse are fun to hunt by walking and wing shooting them...........similar to pheasant hunting.  Ruffed grouse are more of a PIA since they are usually in a brushy creekbottom and many times you never even see them when they flush.
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.
