I had mine just tanned by a Taxi  and it is draped over my gun safe.

I had the Taxi skin out the head, then I picked it up and cleaned the skull myself. Not perfect but good enough for this old boy.

If I get another I am going to tan it myself. There is a lot of YouTube’s on how to do it and I have one to look at.

I am confident I could do it myself.

Look into it , you could have a tanned hide yourself in couple weekends. Freeze till you are ready to start.  A rug might take a Taxi over a year and you a lot of cash.

Wildlife Obsession did one for me for my 2023 bear. Might take it to a furry gathering.

Yeah I think hides are much more useful just tanned than rugged. :twocents:

worth the drive to wildlife creations in hayden Id, waaaaay better prices than any of these wa places.  They did a great job on mine, I just dropped it off, they mailed it to me when done. easy peasy and save a bunch.  One popular taxi that's on here in western wa, wanted about almost a grand just to skin out the 4 claws!!!

I have had 3 rugs done by Darin at Fuson's Taxidermy in 9 Mile Falls (Spokane area).  He does a great job.  I have also had him tan a couple of bear hides for me.  He does his own tanning (as opposed to sending it off to a tannery, which a lot of taxi's do), so he has a better turn-around than a lot of places.
Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.  That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

I don’t, but if you call I’m sure they could give you an updated price, mine was done in 2021. And it was waaaaay cheaper than theses western wa taxi’s, they have too many customers and must think we are all rich and stupid.

I’ve got no suggestions as far as a taxidermist for your rug. I will say, make sure they sew the rug and don’t use an adhesive. I still need to bring mine in to get re-rugged as the glue failed years ago🤦‍♂️

That’s pretty cool! I like the way that was done.
