Heading back out to Montana to try to seal the deal on an elk. My sister is a chef in Helena and loves to do non-traditional Thanksgivings. Last time we did a 5 course meal where the dishes came out about an hour apart - I think it was French style and I contributed some elk last time. This year she wants to do Chinese cuisine, which I don't really know how to do other than stir fry. Thinking of suggesting short ribs or something like that. Should be awesome though! Can't beat hunting for 3-4 days, hanging out with family and eating good food, then heading back out again. Finally snow in the forecast! |

Just tried out me new Instapot with elk stew, it was done in 30 minutes. Veggies perfect, meat tender. Good day for some leftovers. |

Turkey day here means prime rib. 10 lb rib roast, loaded mashed taters, 7layer salad and spiced cake for dessert. Gluten free for the wife but it is an amazing dinner. Sliced steak sammys for a few days after. Not to mention potato cakes for breakfast using the mashed taters. |

Normally do a prime rib but seems like the stores have very little inventory and we leave for the coast Monday for a week so threw an audible and decided to do short ribs this year. Bummed razor clamming is missing turkey week this year so I’ll throw some frozen ones in for an appetizer for nostalgia. |

The home-brined ham and chickens turned out pretty well. |
