It’s rimmed 243 Winchester.  Three fire formed cases and three dummy rounds made using culls w/87 grain V-max bullets.  The cases are made from 444 Marlin parent cases from Starlinebrass.
I have been posting on my CPA Stevens project here.

There is more on how I formed the cases posted in the link under the thread here on my C.C. Johnson 219 Donaldson Wasp 44-1/2 Stevens.

Is that a 307 necked down to 6mm?

Pretty much.  I used Starlinebrass 444 Marlin brass though.  Here’s where it gets real interesting, had enough flow from the necking and forming it to have had to trim it about .20 inches.  So?  So I probably would be well served to have a 257 AI.Rimmed barrel as well.  Nice 257 Ackley Improved dies are all over the place at a good price as are reamers.  All it would cost me is the price of a barrel and brass.

I have Benchrest and Sporting/Varmint stock and fore ends about done.  I’m going to make up a beaver tail fore end for it as well.  I know I’ve got a real nice looking two piece stock blank set of wood under my bed that has two fore end pieces of wood with it.  I can use one for a third fore end for this rifle, or I probably have some other nice wood around here somewhere that isn’t much good for a stock due to how the grain runs in it.

I set a stud in the Sporting fore end for shooting off Harris BiPods and, I’m experienced enough to know that a benchrest fore end really isn’t that great for chuck and prairie dog shooting.  A beavertail fore end is much better off a rest in the field.

Maybe by next week I’ll have the rifle assembled and folks can take a look at how it came together and give it the thumbs up or thumbs down.
