What to do??

I've never had a Dodge as a daily or something that needed to be reliable... Just beaters and yard cars and trucks... Most my friends that I can recall having a Dodge diesel truck newer then 2010ish regretted it... I only buy Chevy or Ford for the road...

My last Dodge RIP was a 2017 and was a very reliable truck.  It was totaled which is why I had to buy a new one.

A friend had a 2016 Dodge... After the 3rd time he took the dash apart in 2 years to replace something he put a for sale sign in it and went back to a Ford... It sucks when the good ones get ruined... I know this isn't a diesel but I had a 2002 F150 FX4 Lariat bought used with 2300 miles and drove it till it leaked more oil then I could keep in it... Finally parked it at my parents in 2023 with 423000 miles... Replaced damn near everything suspension myself, tranny under the extened bumper to bumper warranty... Best truck I ever had... Might rebuild or put a crate motor in it...

My son had to put his '05 Ram in the shop, getting a new engine as we speak. In the mean time he bought a used one a bit newer with manual tranny. Sounds like as soon as the 05 is fixed he's going to put a for sale sign in it. I think it's the 2500.

What went wrong with the engine?

Damage in #3 cylinder. Not sure if it dropped a valve or injector blew a hole in the piston.

What about renting a truck to haul your boat? When my truck went in for body damage I demanded a truck as I wanted a like replacement. They settled for a comparable 4x4. It might be worth trying.

Ford experience….
Ford does truck for truck without question. If you have a truck, you get a Ford rental F150. The problem is that Enterprise doesn’t allow towing with their normal rental trucks. I may or may not know of a guy who has towed with a regular Enterprise F150.
Enterprise has a commercial division with super duties that you can tow with, but they charge over $120 a day for them and ford only covers $65 a day for a truck.

I had a fleet of f250s/450s when I was doing construction in Seattle. Was partnered with my brother and we got him a brand new 250. It had all sorts of turbo issues and was down for over six months. I was pissed but my brother had a man crush on the crook of a service writer at sound ford and just kept grinning and bearing it. They wouldn’t do a rental, or even return a call if it was from me


This is a big part of why my newest vehicle is now 9 years old and my daily drivers are 95 or 07. My five vehicles are an average of 20 years old and I have as much or less issues than my cousin who lives down the road who buys a new rig just about every three years. At least when mine break down I can shrug and figure they were due for it

Right! I was done with that place right after we had to switch when millennium shut down but for reasons unknown my old man was in love with those guys and when my brother came on board when he retired he loved them too. It definitely wasn’t because of their quick, quality service or because of their low prices either. They weren’t even close to our shop, but I’m out of that mess now lol

If they have it for more than 30 days, you can pursue lemon law. Ram may work with you to avoid that. In my experience with a Ford issue, they fought me all the way to the day before the arbitration hearing before they agreed to buy the vehicle back.
