Bucket List Elk shed help wanted

Yeah I know its a secret but still gonna ask 

At 61, I am running out of time to cross this off my list. I have no problems finding deer sheds, but not a single elk one.....outside of deadheads.

I have spent some time looking in the "greater Colockum" area to no avail.  Would be tickled pink to even find a rotten white one.

My question is WHERE should I be looking? Sage, timber, migrating trails, N/S slopes, elevation (what I feel I may be off on) but assume that could change from year to year depending on snow.


ANY help would be appreciated and NEVER shared    Please respond if inclined via PM    Thank you

Call the WDFW biologist and ask where the herd tends to winter in mild winters such as what we have had. And also ask where they winter in harsh winters and then it’s boots on the ground.

Most my elk sheds I've found in that area were by accident between 3000'-4500'...

Where ever they are now and back a couple weeks,if you find one look close, bachelor groups, great luck!!!!

Some still packing where I'm at ,bigger bulls have dropped.
Probably a couple weeks ago.

the last time I went to oak creek was about 10 years ago. Did not find one shed, but what I did find was a lot of evidence people were ahead of me by weeks. Old tp, garbage, dirt bike tracks. Haven’t been back since.

I'm more about enjoying the outside alone than hiking/racing with/listening to others.  I just want to find an elk shed while having a FUN day.

Anymore it’s just hike as well for me
I enjoy hitting the sage myself use binos and glass glass glass

Did 4 miles today all off road/trail....still goose egged. Saw several others...Nothing in hands or tied to packs.  The quest continues.

It’s a great year to not hunt the feeding stations and look elsewhere
