Many years ago a friend harvested a 'spike' by this states rules, really big 6 on one side and a 4 foot spike on the other.  Doubt if he ever took a picture

I've seen a few of those come out of the Blues back in the 90's thru early 2000's.

About 20 years ago a good buddy of mine shot a spike on opening day of the archery season.  Looked like a good shot, so he walked back to camp for breakfast.  "It's kind of a funny looking spike" he told us.  After breakfast we all went to go track his bull.  We found it a few yards from where he shot it.  It was easily the biggest bull elk any of us had ever seen.  A huge, ancient bull that had apparently regressed "back to a spike".  It had one antler that looked like a baseball bat bent in an L shape.  The other side was a single, long, curved spike over 3 feet long.  Somewhere I have a picture of PathfinderJR (who was about 7 or 8 ) standing next to the head and that antler is as long as he is tall.  If you saw it's tracks, you would honestly think they were left by a moose.  If I find the pics of it I'll come back on and post, but they're not on my work computer (I looked).

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.  That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

That is SWEET!!  id shoot that in a heartbeat day 1 even with an any/branch permit.  Love me some odd ones

Had to go measure.  Interesting.....18-18-19-20-20-20-20-22-22-24.
What I'm curious about is what's your shortest spike? I See 5'-8" ones every year on cams and while hunting but have never had a chance to shoot 1.

Sweet bull. My BIL had a quality tag in the blues 10 or 12 years ago and passed on a big spike x 6 multiple days in a row. Unfortunately it didn't dawn on him to let somebody with a spike tag (me) know until after he got home  :chuckle:

6" was the smallest I have... In full velvet... Daughter loved it so I put room after I got it cleaned up... She was 10... When she moved out she took it with her...
I love you... I really do...

Both of mine are 23” on the left and 25” on the right. The skull was a cow that started to grow a point. Probably had too much Roundup.

My first and only spike.  November 1993, 3 days before my 13th birthday.  My Grandpa and I went out that morning behind his property and caught a herd on the edge of.a.clearcut.  3 rounds from my Winchester model 100 carbine 308 later and I had my first elk and a memory I'll never forget
