Sight in Range

What range do you sight your muzzleloaders to?

I’ve sighted my .54 round ball shooter in at 75 yards.  That’s as far as I’ll shoot it at game due to energy limitations (my personal limit).  It’s pretty much dead-on at shorter yardage, not enough variance to worry about.

I’ve sighted my .50 cal Bighorn in at 150 yards.  That puts it 3” high at 50 & 100 yards, probably reaching 4” high somewhere in between.  And I’m 8” low @ 200 yards.  I figure that gives me a +- 4” point blank range of 175 yards.

Last year I sighted my .50cal T/C BlackDiamond at 100yds.  It was 4 inches low at 150yds.  At 200yds it was 10 inches low.  This year I'm going to sight it in at 125yds and go from there because last year I shot my deer at 165 yds.  The type of terrain I hunt is open so I want to try and sight it in a little farther out.
