Dead fawns

I've been spending alot of time on my father inlaws 150 acres this early season archery and ran into a monster 4 point a couple weeks ago but couldn't get into range. But anyway last week I found a dead fawn close to a clear cut, his insides were ripped out and the rest of it was left whole. Well yesterday I found a nother dead fawn with the exact same thing, insides ripped out. It was within 200 feet from the first one and I'm not sure what is doing this, I'm thinking maybe a cougar but I would think a cougar would grag the animal away. Does anyone have any idea what kind of animal could be doing this. I have seen alot of bear sign in that area, so maybe even a bear!!

My first guess wouldn't be bear, but I guess you never know.  Any wolves in the area???  Maybe a pack of dogs???  I don't know man, that's a good one.  Something that kills them should be eating them too(at least you would think).

Would coyotes do that, rip out the guts and leave the meat?

I wouldn't think so.  I don't know if a cougar would either though.  Are there any other kinds of tracks or other sign around the fawns?

I'm far from a cougar expert but i think cougar kills will be suffocated by clamping down on the neck. any neck wounds?
i betcha you've got some dogs running around doing it.

I vote dogs too. We used to run goats in N. Central TX. Wild dogs would just kill them for fun. People drop them off in "The Country". I've tipped over a fair share of them when I was younger.

One signature of cat kills, both bobs and cougar, is they typically remove the lower GI and drag it several feet from the kill.  Both typically kill fawns with a throat bite, cougar will also bite them over the back of the skull.  Without seeing the carcasses, sounds like kitties to me.

Sounds like coyotes to me.  I see that a lot around here with calves.  We don't have many cougars or bear but a ton of yotes.
