New Zealand Red Deer

2007 New Zealand Stag, at the request of 257.  Once in a lifetime opportunity, unless I win the lottery.  Then I am going back!

Great looking stag, congrats to ya!
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
If I ageed with you, then we'd both be wrong.

Cool looking stag.  I was chasing a Roosevelt Elk that looked like that stag for 10 days during the early archery elk season.  We called him "cluby" because of the large clubs of points he had.  I wonder why roseys often look more like these stags than rocky mountain elk.  I wonder if they are more closely related.  It would be interesting to see a map of the genus.  Nice looking animal.  I bet my wife wouldn't mind going "hunting" with me down in New Zealand...

257, your pard stopped by the other day.  Showed him a few cam pics, and antlers.

Thanx guys for the comments, it was a fabulous experience.

Saylean, If you are really interested PM me and I will give you a phone number and contact.  I did a lot of research, and settled on a american guide.  The hunt I chose was a 60,000 acre ranch.  Plenty of animals, and great views!  Also take your own rifle, their lots of DIY things to hunt.  I wasn't successful on the DIY, because I wasn't prepared.  But would be glad to pass this information along.

Ya he was over Christmas AM, gave the boy the sheds he bought off you. That kid of mine will be rattling every chance he gets after seeing that buck come running in over in Idaho this year. cut the eyeguards off so he won't smash his fingers anymore. Later
