Some of my mounts
« on: December 08, 2009, 12:46:26 PM »
This is the biggest BT I've taken... It was an 88 yard shot as he was feeding on the edge of a steep ridge moving in and out of the timber.. I had to readjust for the shot moving up the ridge as he went behind some tree's... Thought I blew it... Then I see antler stick out... Saw he was a nice three.. Squared up the cross-hairs.. Now the head was exposed... Then neck.... One more step and he's mine.... BOOM!!! I almost shot him again as he went down hill 130 yards or so til I realized he was sliding...

My first bull before it went to spike only.... Tracked him in the snow for two hours before catching up to him... And there he was about to hit some thick timber and disappear... First shot was 75 yards... Hit him in the shoulder and he didn't even flinch...Second shot was on a dead run about 100 yards now and dropped him....

My biggest Mulie... Got there late.. Story of my life..  :bash:  Walking in on an old logging road about mid day and all of a sudden I see antlers taking off up ridge... I throw up off hand and as he clears some brush fire.... 133 yds... Thought I missed.... When I got up to were he was when I shot found him piled up.. I lead him a little too far and broke his neck.....

My first Mule Deer.... Opening day... Had just shot a coyote at first light so I was just walking around.... Looked through some tree's and I'll be damned to see this guy coming thru the other side in a clearing not 25 yds from me... You can pretty much say that buck fever hit me extremely bad because when he walked out in the open at 25 yds or less I was just standing there staring at him with my rifle on my shoulder and jaw in the dirt... Needless to say he stopped and looked right at me and took off in the other direction... I will never do this again but I was young and dumb with a 243... I took a Texas heart shot at 100 yds or so (by the time I got my scope on him) It lifted his back legs off the ground and put them damn near in front of him on the side.....  :(  but he just kept going.... Tracked him down and put two more in him.... Took about 30 mins but seemed like two days...

My daughter got a hold of this one... Anyways... This is one of my favorites... It was the last day of the season.... Dad and I were to make radio contact at 10:30am and then head back to camp to pack up.... He said tat I better not shoot anything unless it's close to camp because we need to be out on time and back home... Sat all am in one of my favorite spots and passed a very small 3x1.. That's all I saw.. Just making my way down ridge while turning my radio on and putting in my earpiece.... Caught movement way down ridge.. Binos confirmed it was a doe with a 4x something buck following at a trot... They went down in a low and I figured it was now or never.... 323 yds off hand and put it through the boiler room.. Looked at my watch... 10:28am. Dad radioed me about 30 secs after the shot... Saying tell me you aren't up that ridge....  :chuckle:  We were late..

This is it for now....  ;) I know all very *censored*ty pics... Just have some not so good point and shoot... Here are a couple late season BT.... One was taking opening day of late buck when he walked out in front of me at 65 yds or so and the other (3 o 4 point) was taken in a clear cut that I sat on for 4 days and let a few spikes and one small fork walk... I got up to get my things together.. It was getting dark on the last day.. Got my pack and everything situated... Gave the cut one last look... Nothing.... Turn around to head up to the road for the walk back... Look up and 40 or so yds up the hill is where he was standing staring at me.... Obviously very surprised to see me, as I was of him...  :chuckle:  One fluid motion and the 43 is ready and he's in a bound.... The second bound took him too high in the clear.... If he would've walked off I never would've had a shot...  :dunno:
