Predator Pile?

I just saw in the Cabela's catalog a new product called Predator Pile.  It is an artificial "gut pile" for drawing in coyotes, etc.  There are 3 "gutpiles" per bag and at only $15 a pop.  I m thinking about giving it a whirl.   Has anyone here tried or heard anything about it?

Make friends with a meat processor.  Lot's of guts for free.   Freeze em.

My neighbor supplies me with a bunch of dead cattle. I usually have to go over and shoot several for him each spring.  He hauls the carcasses out in the back 100 so that I can see them from the house.  I just take a peak every now and then and wind up running down to the barn with gun in hand to pop another one.  I was thinking that this product would be good for places where it isnt practical to haul in a carcass.  I bet it would work well on cats as well.  I do see a problem with it attracting bears though, that could get a little sticky.

Does the kit come with some type of scent/attractant.... Aren't cats and doggies coming in to the scent of their quarry/carrion.....?  Seems like if you just place a plastic gutpile look-a-like, that you arent going to draw in many predators, but birds.....IMSO

It's artifical...not plastic.
It smells and is edible--but it's not a *real* gut pile.

I've used dead cattle in the past as well, much in the same manner as above. Works especially well when partially buried--the dogs stick around a bit longer digging for the *good stuff.*

oh, OK, I imagined a soft plastic look alike, not taste alike....  Do they also sell liver and heart?

Awsome looking pile, but is looks to be a bit domesticated.
